A relaxed, in-home family photoshoot

I absolutely love in-home sessions - there’s something so special about capturing families in their own space and knowing they'll look back on those memories in the place where it all happened.

I'd captured some pics of this gorgeous little guy at a baby yoga session and Mum loved them so much she booked in a whole family session to celebrate his first birthday. We had a lovely time playing and reading stories - and even a little bit of dancing in the kitchen! The we went off to Urmston park for a few outdoor shots while the sun was shining.

The benefits of having your family photos taken at home

Often, families opt not to have their photos taken at home because they're worried about the size of their home, the mess, the half-finished decorating. I personally think it adds another layer to your memories. In years to come you'll look back fondly on the 'mess' of your children's toys on the floor, you'll feel nostalgic for the cheap sofa that you snuggled on with your little one, you'll be so grateful to be able to look back on the home where you raised your little family, even if it seems a little rough around the edges to you now.

I also find children are a lot more relaxed during in-home sessions. It takes them less time to warm up when they're in a space they feel comfortable, and that means we get even more of those gorgeous natural smiles and laughs ❤️

A little love for Urmston

I’m based nearby, so I shoot in Urmston all the time, and I’m always reminded how friendly and down-to-earth the families here are. If you’ve ever thought about booking a shoot but worried it might feel awkward or too formal - I promise, it’s not like that at all. We’ll chat, laugh, play, and you’ll barely notice I’ve got a camera in my hand.

Thinking about your own family photos?

If you’d love relaxed, natural photos in your own home (or somewhere local), you can find out more about my family photography sessions below. I photograph families all around Urmston, Sale, Chorlton, and across Manchester, keeping things fun and easy - so you get photos that actually feel like you.
